The pride of Evansville, IN LST 325 is the only Navy monument capable of independent movement. LST 325 is a faithful restoration of a working "workhorse of the sea" that carried US soldiers and Marines to war during WWII and Korea. The Memorial is also a tribute to the city's contribution to the war effort which saw 167 LSTs and 34 other ships of various types produced at the local shipyards making Evansville the highest producing of all the inland shipyards.

Forward
In the 1960’s Vietnam was a faraway and distant country very few people had ever heard about or knew where it was located. It was soon to be well-known and very controversial to the American public, especially to those young American men of draft age. During this time, most everyone had an opinion about why the United States was involved in a small country in southeast Asia.
Today, most everyone has an opinion about what happened in Vietnam. In America, it’s okay to voice your opinion. That’s why we fight to keep America safe and free.
I was inspired to write this book after I talked with a veteran at one of my book shows. He wore a cap with Vietnam Veteran on the front. Of course, I thanked him for his service. He responded, “I didn’t get a parade when I got home like the WWII veterans did; I got spit on.”
This book is not meant to be political or controversial. It is an opportunity to salute and thank the men and women who fought for our country. It is a collection of stories of Vietnam veterans, both men and women, from America. It is intended to honor veterans.
Thank you for your service and sacrifice!
