The pride of Evansville, IN LST 325 is the only Navy monument capable of independent movement. LST 325 is a faithful restoration of a working "workhorse of the sea" that carried US soldiers and Marines to war during WWII and Korea. The Memorial is also a tribute to the city's contribution to the war effort which saw 167 LSTs and 34 other ships of various types produced at the local shipyards making Evansville the highest producing of all the inland shipyards.

From back

"The LSTs played a tremendous role in defeating the Nazi war machine. Clendel Williams' tales, while working at the LST plant in Evansville, Indiana, adds to the incredible story of the men and women who worked there during WWII. Williams gives us an insight of these people as to where they came from and the hardships they endured to produce these floating transports for the war effort. These collections of stories are true Hoosier homespun delights. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in WWII, Indiana history, or enjoys reading good stores. These stores are true, honest, humorous, and an important piece of our heritage. --Stanley Curtis Coy, Hoosier Heritage Magazine.
